Description
The NES MMC Blaster Lite is here! This programmable cartridge can do a variety of the more advanced NES mappers (see below) that were used in many titles during the NES era!
No soldering, no hassle! Simply pop the board into the RetroBlaster Programmer with the NES/FC adapter and write your game to it. The RetroBlaster software will automatically remove any header and pad your game file to fill the Flash memory chips on the board. It takes all the guess-work out of making your game playable on a real console!
The NES MMC Blaster Lite cartridge can be configured with a variety of different mappers, and includes a custom multi-region CIC chip so that the cart works in both NTSC and PAL regions* without any fuss, plus it handles changing all PRG/CHR/WRAM and mapper configurations automatically.
If you get the MMC1 Blaster, for example, it can do ALL SxROM configurations – and it’s all handled automatically based on what game you’re writing to it.
Boards with more than one mapper on it, like the “MMC2 / MMC4” or “MMC3 / MMC6” Blasters, will be able to play games from either mapper, all handled automatically.
The NES MMC Blaster Lite comes with the following features:
- 512KByte of PRG ROM
- 256KByte of CHR ROM
- 32KByte of PRG RAM
- 32KByte of CHR RAM
- CR2032 battery + holder – for easy replacement years later
- Automatic mirroring and mapper configuration
- Multi-region CIC
The mappers that are currently supported are (click the links to see what games they can make):
NSF (INES mapper 31, for chiptune carts)
*If your console’s LED blinks after inserting the Blaster and powering on, press RESET (usually takes between 4-8 resets) to lock the cart to your console’s region. You only need to do that once when changing the region the game is playing on, after that it remembers. The CIC defaults to the NTSC region out-of-the-box.
